The WACO basketball teams had their first girl/boy doubleheader of the season on Tuesday night and came home with a split against Wapello.

In the girls game the Warriors could not find any footing early falling behind 36-10 at half and they couldn’t recover en route to a 57-26 loss. Morgan Graber was a bright spot for WACO (0-2) with 11 points and four rebounds. The Warrior boys (1-0) picked up right where they left off from last season with a 53-38 victory over the Indians thanks to a big second half. The lead was just five at the break, but outscoring Wapello 16-7 in the third help propelled them to the 15-point win. Nik Coble was seven of 10 from the floor to finish with 15 points and nine rebounds while Pietro Vannini added 14 points.

Both teams are at home for the first time tomorrow against West Burlington.
