The City of Columbus Junction is reminding residents about the city’s procedures for handling snow events. Snow emergencies will be issued by city government when they feel that conditions warrant. There will be a minimum of four hours of notice before enforcement of the ordinance begins and it will be in effect for a minimum of 48 hours. A snow emergency will be declared through local radio stations like KCII, on the city’s website or Facebook page, and the Columbus Junction Public Works’ dedicated phone line. Streets that fall under the jurisdiction of the ordinance include Main, Maple, Second and Gamble. Vehicles that are in violation of the regulation may be ticketed or towed. The ticket fee is $35 per violation plus any towing or storage fees. Citations can be paid at Columbus Junction City Hall.
