The Kalona Historical Society is ready to present visitors with new exhibits. At the grant ceremony for the Washington County Riverboat Foundation, the society was awarded $24,700 for their request to help with upgrades to exhibits. Their plans include creating a pair of state of the art exhibits at the facility with a new mural, interactive consoles, artifacts and timeline being part of the display that outlines history in the Washington and Johnson county area from 1835 to 1879 and beyond. The exhibits will focus on the history of Native Americans, early pioneers and railroads in the area.
