The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is hosting a special antlerless deer hunt at Lake Darling Saturday and Sunday, December 7th and 8th. Area hunters applied to be a part of the event earlier in the fall, 50 were chosen and granted licenses for the special season. Each license issued is for one antlerless tag. The season is for muzzleloaders and shotguns only. Harvest is restricted to antlerless deer only and only those with the special license are permitted in the park on these two days. The hunt is used as a management tool to help local hunters and landowners efforts to keep the deer population in check.
