The Hillcrest Academy Raven boys and girls basketball teams are back on the floor Friday when Louisa-Muscatine comes to Kalona for a Southeast Iowa Superconference doubleheader. The Raven girls come into the game with a 1-2 record on the season after a 62-31 loss on Tuesday at Lone Tree. In the game, Hillcrest was led by 13 points from Esther Hughes. On the season, Hughes leads the way for the Ravens at 14 points per game. Meredith Blossom and Yani Gutierrez are tied for the team lead with five assists. Sarah Miller leads the Ravens on the glass with 14 boards.
Louisa-Muscatine comes in at a perfect 3-0 on the young season with wins over Columbus, Wilton and Highland last time out 61-41 on Tuesday. Kylee Sanders leads the Falcons this year at 21 points per game. She is also the team’s best with four assists and 11 rebounds. These two teams met twice a season ago with the Falcons winning 73-47 in Letts and Hillcrest getting a 50-45 win in Kalona.
In the boys contest, the Ravens come in with an overall record of 0-1 after a 70-64 loss in their season opener Tuesday at Lone Tree despite 28 points from Eli Ours. Louisa-Muscatine is 0-2 on the season with losses to Wilton and Highland. The Huskies beat the Falcons 61-42 on Tuesday. Brock Jeambey scored a team high 16 for L-M. Dawson Wehrle leads the Falcons scoring 16 points per game. Jeambey has a team best five assists and 12 rebounds. These two teams met twice a year ago with the Ravens sweeping both games, 73-41 in Letts and 66-38 in Kalona.
