The Southeast Conference portion of the schedule starts up tonight for the Washington basketball teams, as they face off with Fairfield.
The league switched up the format this year having the boys and girls teams splitting up and the Demon girls will host the Trojans while the boys will make a trip to Fairfield. The girls are 1-1 and look to rebound from a 56-13 loss at Class 4A Cedar Rapids Washington on Tuesday. The reigning conference champs in the Trojans are 1-0 after a 56-17 victory over Oskaloosa headlined by 21 points from three-year star Shaylin Drish.
The Demon boys are also 1-1 and are coming off of a 74-50 defeat against Iowa City Liberty on Tuesday. They trailed by 19 at the end of one and could never recover against the Lightning. Luke Turner paced the team with 11 points and Kasen Bailey had 10. The Trojans lost a lot of pieces from last season and started the year with a 67-45 loss to Oskaloosa.
