A local singing celebrity is returning to southeast Iowa Monday for a community celebration. Cali Wilson who advanced to the top 13 on NBC’s The Voice is having a homecoming party on Monday. While on the show, Wilson said the local love was a boost for her, “It was incredible. I’ve been seeing those signs pop up on social media. I mean, I couldn’t have asked for more support than I’m getting because it’s incredible to see people with signs with my name and picture on it. And people posting about me constantly, about my journey on The Voice and how proud they are and being a good representation of the area that I’m from. Southeast Iowa is super important to me so I’m so glad people are rallying behind me, and I couldn’t be more thankful.”
The Mt. Pleasant High School alumna will be part of a parade Monday in Salem starting at 4:30 p.m., followed by a soup supper, benefit auction at Feehan’s Flowers in Salem, and meet and greet. At 7 p.m. Wilson will speak, sharing her dreams and future plans. During the day, Wilson will meet with students at the Mt. Pleasant High School.
