The Washington archery season got started on the right foot Saturday, as they won their home tournament in both the block archery shoot and 3D shoot competitions.
The Demons ranked first out of three teams in the block archery shoot with a team score of 3334. Jack Strabala led the way with 284 including 17 bullseyes to finish third out of 69 boys and David Rees was right behind with 284 and 16 bullseyes to place fourth. Samantha Frana placed first out of 67 girls with a score of 281 and 17 bullseyes. Other notable performances included Lane Frana 283, Allison Rees 280, Samantha Mellinger 279, and Alexis Ide 279.
In the 3D competition, Washington was first out of two teams with a 1652 tally. Cooper Reed was third out of 21 boys with 279, Lane Frana 278, Jonathan Moore 276, and William Peterson 274. Meghan Case shot a 273 to place second of 16 girls and Samantha Frana was third with 272.
The Demons are back to work this weekend in Cedar Rapids.
