The Hillcrest Academy Raven boys and girls basketball teams had a tough road trip Tuesday night at Mediapolis falling in a pair of Southeast Iowa Superconference contests. The Raven girls were beaten by the No. 12 Bullettes 75-17. MEPO started the game on a big run, scoring the first 27 points. The Ravens got on the board in the second quarter but trailed 55-5 at half. With the running clock enacted in the second half, the Bullettes pulled away to the 58 point win. Hillcrest was led by Yani Gutierrez with 10 points, Sarah Miller had seven. MEPO was paced by 24 from Mackenzie Springsteen. With the loss, the Ravens fall to 1-4 on the year.

The Hillcrest boys took a tight loss on the road 56-52. The Ravens got out to a hot start, holding a 17-9 lead after the first quarter. MEPO responded with 14 in the second frame but the Ravens still held a 25-23 lead at the break. Out of the locker room the Bulldogs took control outscoring Hillcrest 19-12 in the third period and the Raven comeback fell short in the fourth quarter. Eli Ours led Hillcrest with 21 points, Kobe Borntrager had 13.  The Raven boys are now 1-2 on the season. Hillcrest is next in action on Friday when they host the Pekin Panthers in Kalona.
