The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams are on the road for the first time in the young season Friday when they travel to North Cedar to take on the Knights. The Mid-Prairie girls come into the game with an overall record of 1-3 on the year after a 32-29 loss to Iowa City Regina on Tuesday in Wellman. In that game Mid-Prairie was led by Phelan Hostetler with 10 points. For the season sophomore Maddie Nonnenmann leads Mid-Prairie scoring 11 points per game. She is also the team leader with 23 boards. Amara Jones has dished out 13 assists and has 16 steals.

North Cedar comes into tonight with an overall record of 0-4. Last time out the Knights were beaten on Tuesday at Camanche 39-33. Aubrie Pruess leads North Cedar scoring seven points per game. Kendall Smith has 25 rebounds and Kassidie Galloway five assists. A season ago, Mid-Prairie got the win in Wellman 57-43 behind 15 points from Myah Lugar.

The Mid-Prairie boys are 1-2 on the year after a 61-48 loss to top ten Iowa City Regina on Tuesday in Wellman. The Hawks were led in the game by 15 points from Carter Harmsen. On the season the Golden Hawks are led by Harmsen scoring 13 points per game. Brad Tornow had 18 assists to lead the Golden Hawks and Aidan Rath is best on the boards with 16 rebounds.

North Cedar comes into the game with an overall mark of 0-3. Last time out the Knights lost at Camanche 58-55 Tuesday, despite 20 points from Kael Unruh. On the season the Knights are led by Keon McCullough at 14 points per game. Gage Walshire has a team best 23 rebounds and Unruh leads the Knights with nine assists. These two teams met a year ago with the Hawks getting a 76-62 win. Action begins tonight at 5;30 at North Cedar High School.
