The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams traveled to North Cedar Friday and came home with a split. The Golden Hawk girls got the win by a 56-43 score. The Golden Hawks led wire to wire in the victory, holding an 8-7 lead after one quarter and finding themselves up 28-21 at the break. Things stayed even in the third with Mid-Prairie taking their seven point lead to the fourth where they salted the game away at the line. The Hawks were led by Myah Lugar with 22 points and nine rebounds. Maddie Nonnenmann added 11. Mid-Prairie is now 2-3 on the year.
The Golden Hawk boys were beaten in their first road trip 67-61. The second quarter was the difference as the Hawks started the frame with a 12-10 lead, but gave up 23 points in the quarter and trailed 33-19 at half. North Cedar would stretch that lead to 20 points going to the fourth. Mid-Prairie made a frantic comeback in the final period, cutting the Knights lead to three on a pair of occasions but could get no closer, falling by six. Carter Harmsen finished with a double double 23 points and 11 rebounds. Ethan Trimpe also had 23 points. Mid-Prairie is now 1-3 on the year.
The Golden Hawk boys and girls will travel to Cascade on Thursday.
