Area girls’ basketball teams will battle tonight in Sigourney with the Savages hosting Washington for non-conference action.

Sigourney has not missed a beat from last year, as they are off to a 5-0 start including defeating Belle Plaine 50-27 on Friday. Washington is an improved bunch that is 3-2 and they are coming off of a 46-38 win against Burlington. There will be no lack of post presence in this one, as Sigourney’s 5’10’’ posts in Megan Stuhr and Kaylee Weber have combined for 36 points a night. The Demons’ 6’0’’ Addison Six and 5’10’’ Olivia Pacha have teamed up for 20 points a game. Last year these teams met up for two nail-biters with Sigourney winning both by one point. Head Coach of the Savages Zach Tremmel previews the night ahead. “I think we are two teams that are evenly matched. They have probably been tested a little more and played some better competition so we are going to have our hands full. I know they are going to be hungry to play us and we have to be ready for it.”

Listen to the area matchup on FM 106.1 KCII starting at 7:15 p.m. with tip at 7:45 p.m. in Sigourney.
