Mount Vernon was the destination for two area-wrestling teams on Saturday, as Washington and Sigourney-Keota made the trip for a tournament.

The Cobras finished 13th in the team standings with 51 points and a short-handed Demon squad was 14th with 41. Sigourney-Keota’s Mason Dye won all three matches by fall in a combined 8:03 to place first at 126 lbs. Other top performers included Trent Hendricks fourth at 145 lbs, Aidan Schuster sixth at 182 lbs, and Gavin Bird sixth at 220 lbs.

Ayden Frazier was the Demon headliner winning at 160 lbs going 3-0 on the day. He won by fall in 4:37, a 12-6 decision, and pinned Lisbon’s Peyton Angelias in 1:32 in the championship match. Matt Collett finished 1-2 in contested matches at 126 lbs to finish sixth and Jacob Hill lost a pair of matches at 170 lbs.

The Cobras host a meet this evening while the Demons are back in action on Thursday.
