A Southeast Iowa Super Conference doubleheader ended in dramatic fashion on Tuesday in Winfield with the Wolves and Highland splitting the two games.

In the girls game the Wolves got out to a fast start and never looked back en route to a 43-25 win. They led 14-5 after one and 25-13 at the break before pulling away in the final 16 minutes. It was a nail-biter in the boys’ contest with Highland squeaking out a 64-61 victory thanks to a buzzer-beating three by Cole Adamson. The game was within a couple possessions the entire way with WMU holding a 29-27 lead at half and 47-44 at the end of three when Highland made their push. With five seconds left and the game tied, Highland missed a jumper but an offensive rebound and kick out to an open Adamson for three sealed the deal. The senior finished with 23 points on nine of 17 shooting and seven assists. Zack Lasek added 17 points. Christian Gerot led the Wolves with 24, Daunte Oepping finished with 16, and Jared Arnold tallied 15. Highland is now 5-1 and WMU drops to 2-3.
