Another person has died in Iowa with influenza-associated illness, bringing the total to five so far this season. According to the Iowa Department of Public Health, influenza activity has been increasing over the last few weeks. In addition to influenza, in the last week there have been 131 cases of rhinovirus/enterovirus, 99 cases of RSV, and 58 cases of adenovirus.
Washington County Public Health Nurse Lynn Fisher reminds people to wash their hands frequently, cover their coughs and sneezes, and stay home when they’re ill even if it’s during the holidays to prevent the spread of illness. She also recommends getting your annual influenza vaccine.
