The Mid-Prairie School District has added property in Wellman. The district, with direction from the school board, purchased two tracts of land south of Highway 22, near the high school complex. One tract is 13 acres that is adjoining to the current auxiliary parking lot. Cost for that parcel was $12,200 per acre. The second parcel is 15 acres and is east of the first, purchased at $10,000 per acre. Sales tax funds will be used for the purchases. There are no immediate plans for the area but some possible future uses include a possible farm property for the Mid-Prairie FFA Chapter, or the opportunity to rent the land.
