An unblemished record is still intact for the WACO boys’ basketball team after they made enough plays to storm past Danville 55-51 on Tuesday.
The Bears led 10-7 after one, but a productive second quarter saw the Warriors take a 25-20 lead into intermission. It was a close one in the final 16 minutes with WACO finding a way to move to 6-0 on the season. Pietro Vannini paced the offense with 19 points on eight of 15 shooting and the double-double machine that is Nik Coble had 14 points and 12 rebounds.
The girls could not find enough offense in a 29-24 defeat to the Bears. Morgan Graber led the team with nine points and Laney Graber had five. WACO is now 1-6 on the season.
The boys and girls travel to play Holy Trinity tomorrow before closing out the first half of the season against Winfield-Mt. Union on Saturday.
