It’s an all-KCII area showdown tonight in Kalona when Hillcrest Academy welcomes Winfield-Mt. Union to Hillcrest Union. The Raven girls come into the game with an overall record of 1-6 on the year after a 66-20 loss to Wapello. Yani Gutierrez led the Ravens in the loss with eight points. On the season, Gutierrez leads the Ravens, scoring 11 points per game. She also holds the team lead with 34 rebounds. Esther Hughes holds the team lead with 13 steals and nine assists.
Winfield-Mt. Union comes into the game with an overall record of 3-4. The Wolves were a winner on Tuesday 43-25 against Highland led by 12 points from Kyndal Townsley. On the season WMU is led by Jobey Malone, Farrah Nelson and Townsley, each scoring seven points per game. Townsley has the team lead with 14 assists, Nelson owns the team lead with 68 rebounds. These two teams met once a season ago with the Ravens scoring a 61-39 win.
The Hillcrest boys enter play at 2-3 on the year after a 57-43 loss to Wapello on the road Tuesday. The Ravens were led in the game by John Hughes and Kobe Borntrager each with 12 points. On the season the Ravens are led by Eli Ours at 21 points per game. He also paces the Ravens with 16 assists. On the glass, Kobe Borntrager has pulled in a team best with 34 boards.
Winfield-Mt. Union comes into the game with an overall record of 2-3. The Wolves were beaten by Highland Tuesday in Winfield 64-61. Christian Gerot led WMU with 24 points. Daunte Oepping leads the way for Winfield-Mt. Union with 14 points per game. He holds the team lead with 28 assists and Jared Arnold has a team best 36 rebounds. The Ravens swept the season series last year, beating the Wolves 57-34 in Winfield and knocking off the Wolves 68-26 in Kalona.
