The warmest Christmas temperatures on record were set this week across eastern Iowa. According to the National Weather Service Washington’s record had been 58 degrees set in 1936 but this Christmas topped that. On Wednesday, the high temperature recorded was 61 degrees. The record in Burlington had been 61 degrees set in 1936, but this year was two degrees warmer. In Cedar Rapids a new record was set one degree higher than the old record set at 58 degrees in 1936.

Temperatures are expected to stay warmer than normal, but rain is in the forecast Friday night into Saturday afternoon. Listen to KCII for weather updates.
