The Highland, WACO and Louisa-Muscatine wrestling teams faced off in Letts as part of a Southeast Iowa Superconference triangular.
The Huskies swept the competition, going 2-0 on the night. They opened with a tight 42-39 win over host Louisa-Muscatine. The Huskies got wins in contested matches from Logan Bonebrake at 132 by fall and Justin Sosa at 220 by fall.
In the area showdown it was the Huskies getting the 54-30 win over WACO. Wins in contested matches during the dual went to Highland’s Carlos Valenzuela by fall at 120, Jalen Collins of WACO at 126 by fall, Logan Bonebrake of Highland at 132 by fall, Robert Frazer of WACO at 152 by fall, Highland’s Kolton Miller at 160 by fall, WACO’s Jaden Williams at 170 by fall, and Cael Yeggy at 182 by fall for the Huskies.
The night finished with the Warriors getting by L-M 31-29. WACO got wins in contested matches from Jonah Clark at 145lbs by 17-9 major decision, Jaden Williams at 160 by 10-8 decision, and Landan Provino at 220lbs by fall.
