Last week, the Wellman Rotary Club had their regular meeting and celebrated an extraordinary milestone. The group was founded on December 12th, 1939, meaning their early December meeting marked their 80th anniversary of service. At the meeting the group Iowa MOST, standing for Iowa Miles of Smiles Team, made a presentation about their annual mission work in Guatemala which helps to provide cleft palate surgeries to children in the country who would not be able to get the treatment without the aid. Wellman Rotarians have been working on a supplemental project with Iowa MOST, providing blankets that the group takes with them to Guatemala and distributes to children after their surgeries. The Wellman Rotary area governor is Jim Johnson and president is Allen Leichty.
