A pair of KCII area schools will be back on the floor in action following the Christmas break tonight when the Columbus Wildcats host the Hillcrest Academy Ravens for a Southeast Iowa Superconference doubleheader. The Hillcrest girls come into the night with an overall record of 1-7. In their last game before break they fell to Winfield-Mt. Union in Kalona 59-26. On the season, the Ravens are led by Yani Gutierrez scoring 11 points per game. She is also the team leader with 34 rebounds. Esther Hughes paces the Ravens with nine assists.

Columbus comes into the game in search of their first win, standing at 0-9. In their last contest they were on the short end of a 68-32 score at Highland on December 20th. For the season the Wildcats are led by Lizbeth Paz at five points per game. Paz also leads the Wildcats with eight assists. Junior Michelle Diaz leads the Wildcats on the glass with 45 rebounds. These two teams met once a season ago with the Ravens taking a 37-16 win in Kalona.

The Hillcrest boys come into their half of the doubleheader with a 3-3 record on the year. The beat Winfield-Mt. Union in Kalona before Christmas by a 59-45 score on the strength of 14 points from Eli Ours. On the year Ours leads the Ravens with a 20 points per game average. The junior also leads the team with 25 assists. Kobe Borntrager leads the Ravens on the glass with 40 rebounds. He also has a team best 13 steals.

Columbus comes into the game looking for their first win of the season. The Wildcats are 0-8 after dropping their pre-Christmas finale 53-20 at Highland on December 20th. Eric Valdez leads the Wildcats scoring 25 points per game. Marco Martinez has the team lead with 18 assists and Mason Hodges leads the Wildcats on the glass with 44 boards. These two teams met once last season with Hillcrest taking a 70-33 win in Kalona.
