Andrew Yang will be campaigning across southeast Iowa this weekend. He is visiting the area as he seeks the Democratic nomination to run for president. Yang is traveling with his wife Evelyn. Eight years ago he sold his education company and founded a non-profit aimed to help entrepreneurs create jobs called Venture for America. Yang has proposed the Freedom Dividend to balance out automation, which would give every American adult $1,000 monthly.
Saturday they’ll begin the day with stops in Knoxville, Oskaloosa, and Ottumwa before a meet and greet at 3:30 p.m. at Central Park Coffee Company in Mt. Pleasant. Then they’ll travel east to Wapello for a Burgers with Yang event at Shaggy’s Gourmet Burgers at 5:15 p.m. followed by two events in Burlington. Sunday they’ll start at noon in Fairfield at the Cider House. At 2 p.m. they’ll meet with potential-caucus goers at Cafe Dodici in Washington. They’ll finish Sunday with events in Fort Madison and Keokuk.
