A long road trip turned in a pair of losses for the Mid-Prairie basketball teams Friday night as the Hawks fell to the Rebels in a River Valley Conference doubleheader.
The Golden Hawk girls were on the short end of a 60-47 final. Northeast finished the first quarter with a 12-9 lead and the advantage was still at three at half with the score 24-21. Out of the locker room the Rebels outscored Mid-Prairie 19-11 in the frame to grab control of the game and they would not look back down the stretch. Maddie Nonnenmann led the Hawks with 16 points, Myah Lugar had 12. The Mid-Prairie girls are now 2-5 following the loss.
The Mid-Prairie boys dropped their game 51-38. Northeast jumped out to an early lead at 15-9 after one quarter and led 27-15 at the half. The Rebels continued to gradually create space in the second half, outscoring Mid-Prairie 12-7 in the third quarter. Luke Boyse led the Hawks with 11 points. The Golden Hawks are now 1-5 on the year, the Mid-Prairie boys and girls will be back in action Tuesday when they host Wilton.
