The Washington County Conservation Board and local Izaak Walton League Chapter have moved forward in the agreement process for property acquisition. The Chicaqua Chapter of the local Izaak Walton League owns 20 acres of property in the Clemons Creek Wildlife and Recreation Area. They have owned this land since 1985 when the county purchased the rest of the land on the reserve, but did not have the funding to purchase the remaining 20 acres. Since then the Ikes have taken care of the area. Due to a need to reduce workload and save money, the Ikes are working with the Conservation Board to deed the property to the county. The process is now in the hands of the legal teams for both parties and could be wrapped up as early this month.
