Progress is visible for the Ainsworth Fire Department. The crew and the city are watching construction continue on a brand new fire station for the department. Work began in the fall and has continued with the external walls, foundation, footings and roof complete, work has now begun on the interior of the building. Demolition of the previous station happened on September 30th. In May, the department secured a $330,000 Washington County Riverboat Foundation grant to help fund the $470,000 building. The new design includes four overhead doors, an overhead loft, extra space for maintenance checks and equipment, larger office space, training area, and room for future expansion.
