The Highland wrestling team opened up the second half of their season Saturday at the Nike Dual tournament in Burlington. The Huskies got wins at the meet over Pekin 42-30 and Louisa-Muscatine 42-36 while falling to Mount Pleasant 36-34 and Notre Dame 48-31.
In the win over Pekin Highland got victories in contested matches from Easton Schlabaugh at 113 by fall, Carlos Valenzuela at 120 by fall, Kolton Miller at 152 by fall, Caedon Harbison at 170 by fall, Cael Yeggy at 182 by fall, and Eli Slaymaker at 195 by fall.
In the win over L-M, the Huskies got victories in contest matches from Jordan Sosa at 220 by fall.
In the loss to Mount Pleasant, the Huskies had wins in contested matches from Easton Schlabaugh at 113 by 14-2 major decision, Logan Bonebrake at 132 by fall, Caedon Harbison at 182 by fall, and Cael Yeggy at 195 by fall.
In their loss to the Nike’s, Highland had wins in contested matches from Easton Schlabaugh at 106 by fall, Carlos Valenzuela at 120 by 12-4 major decision, and Cael Yeggy at 182 by 13-12 decision. The Huskies have a dual record of 7-4 this season and will next be in action Thursday against Pekin and Wapello.
