Iowa’s state senators and representatives will be returning to Des Moines to start the legislative session next week. The session begins Monday, January 13th. State Senator Kevin Kinney shares with KCII News that he hasn’t heard of any particular items being brought to the table, but says he plans to work on supporting emergency medical services this session, “I know that I’m trying to work on a bill in which EMS would become an essential service and allow the counties the ability to fund EMS.”

According to the governor’s office, the State of Iowa ended fiscal year 2019 with a balance of $289.3 million in its General Fund. The first legislative briefing of the year in Washington will be held January 18th with Senators Kinney and Rich Taylor and Representatives Jarad Klein and Joe Mitchell expected to attend.
