Snow, ice, and rain are expected in eastern Iowa this weekend causing travel difficulties. The National Weather Service states a wintry mix is expected Friday night through Saturday morning and will be followed by accumulating snow. Blowing snow is possible Saturday night.
Washington County Emergency Management Coordinator Marissa Reisen shares some safety tips, “Clean off the windshields and just take the time to let your car warm up. It’s not necessarily about the car running better when it’s warm, it’s about letting your car warm up and get some of that snow off, and get some of the ice off. And just be better prepared. And if it’s snowing or raining, if your wipers are on make sure your headlights are on.” Reisen explains those headlights also help other drivers see your vehicle. When your lights are on that also helps those behind you who then see your tail lights.
