The Lone Tree and Highland rivalry renewed on the hardwood in Riverside on Thursday and both schools split a doubleheader.
The Lion girls took care of the Huskies for the third time this season with a 52-37 win. It was the Huskies that made a statement early leading 14-8 after one, but the Lions answered to outscore Highland 29-10 in the second and third. Holley Johnson had a trio of threes to finish with 16 points while Kasey Chown had 12 points and 17 rebounds for the now 7-5 Lions. Highland got 10-point outings from Alyssa Brase and Abbi Stransky while falling to 4-10.
The Huskie boys returned the favor in the nightcap with a 62-55 victory. The game was tight throughout with the Huskies leading 19-15 at the break and 34-32 at the end of three. Zack Lasek had another monstrous performance with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Cole Adamson had 16 points and Derrick Sandburg cleaned up 11 boards. Highland pushes their win streak to seven and overall record to 10-1. The Lions fall to 8-3.
