Check the emergency supplies in your winter car kit and restock them if needed. Washington County Emergency Management Coordinator Marissa Reisen advises what should be in it, “You want to make sure you have communications, so everybody’s always got their cell phone with them. But is it always charged? Do you have a car charger? Have some extra layers of clothing, warm blankets, some non-perishable food to keep in your car. Water is always good to have, but make sure that if you get a brand new bottle of water open it up and dump a little out because if it freezes, the bottle of water expands when it freezes and you could have a mess. You want some tools, you know, your ice scraper, a little shovel if you need it, kitty litter if you get stuck.” The litter can be put under your tires in slick conditions to help get traction.

Snow is expected through Saturday night in the KCII listening area. The National Weather Service advises to be safe and stay home if possible. Listen to KCII for road conditions and weather updates.
