The Washington County Conservation Board met for its first meeting of 2020 and discussed its involvement in the Shiloh Annexation process. The board extended their contract with Clemons Creek for another year, announced various office updates that have been completed, and explained their part in the Shiloh annexation process. Executive Director Zach Rozmus expressed to the board their interest in becoming involved in some capacity with the Shiloh annexation, “Ryan Schlabaugh and I have still been having discussions about potential agreements. But, the actual annexation needs to happen so that way there are less parties involved when we are talking about agreements. Once we can, I’d hate to say remove Shiloh from the negotiation, but in all honesty remove them so it’s between the City of Kalona and the Conservation Board on who’s going to manage what and how that can possibly work itself out.”
The level of involvement between the board and the City of Kalona is still unknown to the board as of this meeting. The Kalona City Council will next discuss annexation at their regular meeting January 20th.
