Koalas, kangaroos, wombats and many more are suffering from fires in Australia and the Washington Public Library is hoping to help them. Librarian Jenisa Harris tells KCII News that a librarian in Boone, Iowa started a pen pal program with World Wild Foundation Australia. Harris says people can send letters and pictures to the animals recovering in Australia, “I thought it was a great way to show kids and families who might not have the money to donate but still want to do something, or educate their kids about the fire in Australia and the devastation, I thought this was a great way to do that.” All supplies will be provided to write a letter or draw a picture for the animals and the volunteers caring for them in Australia. To write a letter or draw a picture to send to the other side of the world stop by the Washington Public Library on Saturday, January 18th from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., or on Monday, January 27th from 3:30-5 p.m. It is an open house, so come and go as it fits your schedule.
