The last Washington wrestling broadcast of the season on KCII will take place tonight in Mount Pleasant, as the rival Demons and Panthers meet up for a Southeast Conference dual.
The Demons were last on the mat a week ago when they fell to Fort Madison 63-18 to push their dual record to 8-6. After a month off, senior Dillan Sanders stayed unbeaten at 145 lbs with a pin to improve to 11-0 and junior Ayden Frazer continues to impress with a 20-3 record. Other seniors in Matt Collett, Brandon Dickel, and Justin Simmering have also provided consistency in the lower weights. Mount Pleasant is 4-11 on the season and Corbin Broecker is a tough out at 113 lbs with a 10-2 record. Demon Head Coach Brent Van Weelden tells KCII Sports it might come down to bonus points. “It boils down to who isn’t going to give up the majors, tech falls, and pins. We need to make sure when we are winning that we are getting pins and when behind we need to keep it as close as possible. It’s that time of year where every team goes through injuries and illness so you never know who will be on the mat.”
The action begins at 6:30 p.m. tonight in Mount Pleasant and listen to it all on FM 106.1 KCII.
