Following a break due to the weather, the Hillcrest Ravens are back on the court tonight when they welcome Mediapolis to Kalona for a Southeast Iowa Superconference basketball doubleheader. The Raven girls come into play with a 1-11 overall record. Last time out they fell to Lone Tree a week ago 46-16. On the year Hillcrest is led by Yani Gutierrez at 10 points per game. She is also the team leader with 68 rebounds, and is tied with Esther Hughes for top honors with 16 assists.

Mediapolis comes into the game with an overall mark of 13-1. The Bullettes are ranked No. 12 in class 2A in the latest poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. Last time out MEPO beat Highland 73-31 behind Helaina Hillyard’s 22 points. On the season Hillyard and Mackenzie Springsteen each are scoring 17 points per game. Hillyard leads the team with 93 assists. Ruthie Jahn leads the Bullettes with 119 total boards. These two teams met earlier in the season with the Bullettes winning 75-17.

The Hillcrest boys come into the game with an overall record of 4-6. They lost to Lone Tree a week ago 62-51 despite 17 points from John Hughes. On the season the Ravens are led by Eli Ours at 19 points per game. He also has a team best 36 assists. On the glass it’s Kobe Borntrager with 66 total boards.

Mediapolis comes into the matchup with an overall record of 5-8. They lost at home to Highland Thursday 55-46. On the season Drew Schroeder leads the Bulldogs at 13 points per game and a team best 60 rebounds. Owen Timmerman tops the Bulldogs with 31 assists. These two met earlier in the year with the Bulldogs taking a 56-52 win. Action begins tonight at 6p.m. at Hillcrest Union in Kalona.
