It is officially speech contest season around the state which means schools in Washington County are preparing for the upcoming district speech competition this weekend. The Mid-Prairie High School will be there with 34 students, competing in 10 different entries in five categories. Those categories include group improv, ensemble acting, musical theater, readers theatre, and one act play. This year, Mid-Prairie and other Washington County schools will travel to Lone Tree for the district contest, and if students advance, will perform on February 8th in Cedar Rapids for the state contest. Parents and community members are welcomed to travel to Lone Tree and watch the students perform. Times and classroom locations for the performances will be available at the school.
