Amature artists from southeast Iowa are invited to showcase their works at the Iowa Artists Region 12 show in Mt. Pleasant. This organization, which is celebrating its 50th year, gives veteran and newcomer artists alike an opportunity to share the world of art with everyone around the state, and this year’s show is no different. Region 12 coordinator and chairperson Margaret Ertz highlighted important deadlines coming up for those who want to enter their pieces, “It’s going to be on March 7th, and that’s a Saturday. And we like everyone to check in between 9 and 10 a.m. You can have up to three pieces, either two or three dimensionals, so paintings or sculpture. We do not have photography or digital currently.” Ertz also says the only qualification to enter is that entrants need to be 18 years or older. There will also be some paperwork and a $25 membership and show fee. Individuals will need to bring their pieces to the location on March 7th to be entered, no online forms necessary to fill out beforehand. For this specific show, artists from Des Moines, Henry, Jefferson, Lee, Louisa, Muscatine, Van Buren, and Washington counties are eligible to enter pieces. This event will be free to the public and the art will be available to view from March 7th through the 28th at the Iowa Wesleyan PEO Gallery at 601 North Main in Mt. Pleasant.
