The Mid-Prairie wrestling team will split their time between a pair of locations on Saturday. Golden Hawk Rylee Vercande is still alive in her pursuit of a state title in the 2020 IWOCA State Meet in Waverly. In the quarterfinal round the No. 7 ranked Vercande with her 11-8 record will meet No. 2 Meridan Snitker of Waukon and her 22-1 record.
For the Golden Hawk boys, they face a stiff test in their final dual event of the year, traveling to Denver-Tripoli High School for the Denver Duels. The Hawks come into the meet with an overall record of 12-12 in duels. They dropped two of three duels at Wilton Thursday, beating Durant but falling to the Beavers and West Liberty. The Hawks have one ranked wrestler in their lineup with Isaac Boucher at No. 8 at 195lbs in class 2A according to thepredicament.com. Joining Mid-Prairie at Denver will be Ames, Dyersville-Beckman, Belle Plaine, Cedar Rapids Jefferson, Denver, Fennimore Wisconsin, Garner-Hayfield, Lisbon, Marion, Mediapolis, Nashua-Plainfield, NHTV, North Fayette Valley, Sioux City East, Stewartville Minnesota, Sumner-Fredericksburg and Wapello. Action continues all day Saturday at Denver-Tripoli High School.
