An impressive weekend on the mat led to Washington’s Teegan Sulentich finishing on the podium at the second annual Iowa Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association Girls State Tournament in Waverly.

The freshman finished 5-1 at the two-day tournament to place third out of 31 competitors at 152 lbs. Sulentich opened up the event with a fall in 1:17, a 7-0 decision win, and 3-2 decision win in the quarterfinals. The only loss was in the semifinal by fall, but she rebounded and then pinned both of her final two opponents in 1:30 and 1:45 to capture third place honors.

Sulentich and the Demons return to the mat Thursday at Oskaloosa.
