The Hillcrest Academy boys and girls basketball teams welcomed Wapello to Kalona on Tuesday. The Ravens earned a split in the pair of games. The Hillcrest girls fell by a 71-17 count. The Arrows won each quarter on the night and roared out to a 20-5 lead after one frame and 47-12 at the half. Out of the locker room, Wapello held Hillcrest scoreless in the third, outscoring the Ravens 12-0 in the frame and pushing the lead to 47. Esther Hughes led the Ravens with six points. Eryka Dickey paced the Arrows with 18 points. Holly Massner had 17 and Sammy Ewart 16.

In the boys contest, the Ravens got revenge for a December road loss to the Indians by hammering them 62-40. Things were tight early with Wapello up 10-9 after one quarter and the Ravens see-sawing on top 25-20 after winning the second quarter. The Ravens took control in the second half asserting their will by outscoring Wapello 37-20 after the break to get the win. A trio of Ravens made double figures with Eli Ours and Kobe Borntrager each scoring 18, Noah Miller added 14. With the victory the Ravens are now back to .500 on the year at 7-7 with a trip to Winfield-Mt. Union coming for the boys and girls on Thursday.
