Sixteen Washington High School students are advancing to the state large group speech contest. Three groups qualified at the district contest held at Lone Tree on Saturday. Those advancing include Ella Goings, Emmylia Geyer, Jenna Messer, Molly Klinzman, and Raven Carnes in short film; in group improv Mathew Osborn, Kevin Flannery, and Allison Rees; and the one act group of Hannah Rees, John Flannery, Alec Schiefer, Bailey Rees, Kara Poeschel, Quinn Wubbena, Sophie Murphy, Kevin Flannery, and Aidan Miller. The team is led by Audrey Skoog. Those who advanced will now perform at the state large group contest in Cedar Rapids on February 8th.
