The Mid-Prairie School Board is moving along with a brand new counseling program available to staff and their families. The Employee Assistance Program will give staff the opportunity to receive various forms of counselling, from behavioral to mental health, at a low cost. The program would also extend to the staff’s immediate family members. Staff will have access to six one-hour confidential counseling sessions via this program that is at no charge to them. The program will run through Sychrony Services in Iowa City and staff will see councilors through Synchrony Services if they set up an appointment. This will cost the school an approximate $6,200, or around $25 per employee per year according to Superintendent Mark Schneider. At their recent meeting, the school board approved unanimously to a one-year contract period.
