In the Southeast Iowa Super Conference Shootout on Friday, the Winfield-Mt. Union girls’ basketball team could not overcome a tough start and fell at home to Holy Trinity 48-36.

The Crusaders got out to a 19-13 lead at the end of one and saw that lead grow to 29-17 at half. WMU could never get closer than arm’s length in the final two quarters and snapped a three game win streak. Farrah Nelson and Melina Oepping led the offense with 10 points apiece while Keetyn Townsley added six steals.

The Wolves drop to 10-9 and they travel to Lone Tree tomorrow.
