Iowa’s Republicans and Democrats went into the chilly February air Monday night and caucused for their presidential preferences. There was a delay in statewide results from the Iowa Democratic Party. IDP Communications Director Mandy McClure said there were inconsistencies in reporting of three sets of results so the party used photos of results and a paper trail to validate the numbers.

Washington County Democrats split delegates among five candidates with Sanders with 20, Warren with 14, Klobuchar at 13, Buttigieg at 13, and Biden with 10. Precinct chair Ed Conway reflected on the evening in Washington’s Ward 1 democratic caucus, “I really couldn’t have asked for it go any better. It’s good to see the people come out to and to see everybody face to face, and get to talk to them, instead of just passing them in the grocery store and not knowing who they are. It put a little character to the face which is great for the community, really it’s mostly a good time for the community to come out and bond a little bit. I am very happy that we have completed the caucus this evening.”
