The WACO Warrior basketball team continued its climb up the Associated Press rankings from the state of Iowa this week. While the Warriors remained in the No. 2 spot in class 1A, they gained another first place vote, moving their total to three. WACO trails only No. 1 ranked Easton Valley in the poll. The Eagles saw their first place vote total drop from seven to six this week as the Warriors brought another pollster over into their corner.
WACO stands unbeaten at 18-0 on the season. In their most recent game, the Warriors throttled New London 70-44 on the road last night. WACO will have a couple of strong tests as they try to close out an unbeaten regular season when they host Burlington Notre Dame in Wayland for senior night this week. The Nikes are receiving votes in this week’s poll. WACO will then face area school Highland in the Southeast Iowa Superconference Shoot Out Final Four Championship game Friday at Iowa Wesleyan. The Huskies are also receiving votes in this week’s 1A poll. WACO closes out the regular season on the 11th with a trip to 3-13 Van Buren.
