
The Hillcrest girls basketball team is back on the floor tonight when they travel to Packwood to meet Pekin. This is a makeup date for a game originally scheduled January 24th. The Ravens are coming into the contest fresh off of their first conference win of the season, beating Columbus Tuesday 45-30 on senior night in Kalona. Esther Hughes scored a career high 24 in the victory while Yani Gutierrez went double double with 19 points and 21 boards. On the season the Ravens are led by Gutierrez and Hughes each at 10 points per game. Gutierrez is the team leader with 26 assists and 105 rebounds.
Pekin comes into the play with an overall mark of 11-5. The Panthers lost at Mediapolis Tuesday 56-38. Pekin is led by Kerrigan Pope at 12 points per game. Sophie Wittrock leads the team with 53 steals and 48 assists. Erika Coleman has a team best 99 rebounds. These two teams met earlier this year with the Panthers taking a 56-12 win in Kalona. Sophie Wittrock and Emilee Linder each had 15 points per game. Action begins at 6:30 tonight at Pekin High School.
