The postseason gets underway for class 1A girls schools tonight. In one all-area matchup Hillcrest Academy travels to Lone Tree to meet the Lady Lions for the third time this season. Hillcrest comes into the game with an overall record of 2-19. Last time out they fell at Danville on Tuesday 53-32 with Yani Gutierrez scoring 18 and Esther Hughes 11. On the season Gutierrez leads the Ravens in all offensive categories at 11 points per game, 35 assists and 153 rebounds. This week, Hillcrest Head Coach Kari Heusinkveld talks about getting ready for the contest. “It’s tough to play a team three times in one season. I’m not sure exactly what they will bring, but we’ll find out when we step on the floor Thursday. We may see some box and one or some triangle and two now that Yani Gutierrez and Esther Hughes have gotten it going offensively and we haven’t seen a lot of that this year. We need to really be focused on ourselves and not so much what the other team is doing.”

Lone Tree enters play with an overall record of 11-10. Last time out they were beaten at Mediapolis 82-39. Kasey Chown scored 11 and Maddie Jacque had 10. On the season, Holley Johnson leads the Lady Lions with 13 points per game. Johnson also has the team lead with 81 assists and 46 steals. Kasey Chown has 171 rebounds. These two teams met twice during the regular season with the Lady Lions winning both contests. In Lone Tree on December 3rd it was a 62-31 Lion win behind 16 points from Kasey Chown and 11 from Josie Mullinnix. Yani Gutierrez had 14 in the loss. In Kalona on January 14th Lone Tree scored a 46-16 win with Holley Johnson scoring 16. Esther Hughes led the Ravens that night with nine points.
