Class 1A area wrestlers will have an opportunity to advance to the state tournament today, as they gear up for the district meet.

Individuals from Highland, Sigourney-Keota, and WACO will all be competing at English Valleys in hopes to crack the top two. The Huskies will be the most represented with five competing including Bryce Thompson at 106 lbs, Easton Schlabaugh at 113 lbs, Carlos Valenzuela at 120 lbs, Cael Yeggy at 182 lbs, and Eli Slaymaker at 195 lbs. The Cobras have four wrestling including Mason Dye at 126 lbs, Jack Clarahan at 152 lbs, Nate Schuster at 160 lbs, and Aidan Schuster at 170 lbs. WACO’s Jalen Collins will hit the mat at 132 lbs, Jonah Clark at 145 lbs, and Jaden Williams at 152 lbs. Lone Tree’s Will Hotz at 170 lbs and Tim Mills at 220 lbs will participate at the district in Wilton.

All districts in the state begin at noon today.
