A chimney fire at a home in rural Kalona was extinguished Thursday. According to the Washington County Communications Office, at 5:02 p.m. emergency officials were notified of a fire in a chimney in the 2100 grid of 560th Street, about four miles north of Kalona. People on the scene believed the fire was out but wanted the fire department to check. Kalona Fire Department and Kalona QRS responded to the home and extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported.
