Hawk fans in Southeast Iowa will see a familiar name on the 2020 Iowa Football roster, as Highland’s Zack Lasek recently committed to stay home next fall.

The senior put pen to paper on National Signing Day last week to play for The University of Iowa after he was offered to hop on board as a preferred walk-on. The multi-sport star at Highland tallied 54 tackles and four sacks this past fall as a defensive lineman. Lasek is also leading the 18-4 Huskie basketball team with 17.2 points and 10.2 rebounds a night. In an exclusive interview with KCII last month Lasek talked about his major of choice. “I think I will go into something in the business finance field or in teaching social sciences. I have always been a big numbers guy and messing with spreadsheets and I have always been a big history buff so those two majors are interesting to me.”

Lasek’s older brother Trey is a freshman on the University of Northern Iowa’s football team and the two squads play each other next September in the season opener.
